In honour of Mother's Day...

In my church, the children get up and sing songs for their moms on Mother's Day. Usually the song they sing goes like this:

"I often go walking in meadows of clover,
And I gather armfuls of blossoms of blue.
I gather the blossoms the whole meadow over;
Dear mother, all flowers remind me of you."

Though, my mom says that whenever she hears that song, she thinks of a day when she was a child. She was walking home from school and cutting through a meadow. She was walking on the path when, lo and behold, a spider had built it's web across the path. She claims it was as big as her fist (but it keeps getting bigger every year). So she turned around and went the long way back home.

We hear that story every year, but it gets funnier every time. So, in spite of that, we made her a cake with a path and a fake spider on it. [I'll upload it soon.]

Here's to Mothers everywhere!
