OMG!! 27 DAYS!!!! …
hehe. well, before I explain that, let me tell you this: organ music definitely has a limit. especially when I have to sit through an hour of it. not to say it was bad, just…long. very long.
Needless to say, I’M BACK!!! FINALLY! gone for two weeks, but the best part about going away is coming home. ^^ yay. so I’m back and currently not very bored (seeing as I have emails and screenames to look up to keep me busy for all of about, oh, half an hour). lol. and notes. I have like twenty pages of notes. they will be soon to follow; I’ll probably be bored and post them here (if I get enough comments about them. if not, I’ll email them to people who want them). so yeah….played contra bassoon too! it was SO AWESOME! it’s huge. it has a tuning slide and a spit valve, its so big! crazy stuff. you have to keep it in one huge piece when you put it away. :P oh, and here’s a scary thing: I met a few people who are a LOT more into music than me. (gasp!) she listens to like EVERY genre under the sun. I swear, all of it. crazy stuff, huh! lol. right, summary of my two week vacation! …
Missouri – pretty boring, actually. sat around and pigged out (which is always fun) and did random stuff. star-gazed out in the “country” which was awesome. saw two or three satellites and an arm of the milky way. visited my uncle, saw CARS and came home. nothing hugely exciting.
(came home, did loads of laundry, went down to ISYM…)
Sunday – drove two hours south to U of I (Champaign Urbana), “moved” into the dorm and met my roommate (she’s going to be a senior this year and made principal bassoonist which is really good. I felt young and stupid. lol).
Monday – pretty ok. met other people in my hallway. during rehearsal though I had to read tener clef which I don’t really know how to read yet. life got better after dinner. hung out with people at a recital. with my glowing wristband.
Tuesday – better than last! no tener clefs or crummy reeds to worry about! took a piano class because I’m lazy. oh well. went to an organ recital too (opening comment explained?). the organist was like one of three national finalists for some competition and the final judging is today in Chicago. whoo! lol. (by now I was definitely thinking about you guys too much by now; the days were getting slower and slower. blah. especially when I remembered some of the “drama” that I read about before I left…consequences, consequences…jk.) oo! I drew a teensie today too! I’ll see if I can upload it to my computer, even though I can’t figure out how to do it. oO
Wednesday – yes! I got the hang of tener clef today! I think I officially learned the spot of five or six notes. (think that’s funny? you switch clefs and see how easy it is!) class as usual: boring with things I couldn’t get the hang of. drew another teensie (I’m getting pretty good at this!) and everyone liked it. except my teacher. he wanted me to pay attention instead of draw. oops. heehee. um, right. watched pirates of the Caribbean, probably in spite of the second one coming out this Friday. yay! I need to find someone to go with, once I hear a review or something. :P
Thursday – fast day! the week finally sped up! couldn’t wait for Sunday, I get to talk to everyone then!! huzzah! class was still boring, talked about the right way to breath (with the stomach, not the shoulders). I have been doing it wrong. oops, not fun. I took notes on it, so if you want it, comment. it’s aggravating, being told I breathe wrong. lol. played contra today, it’s easier than I thought it would be. fingerings are a little different, but other than that, I know two and a half octaves already. now if only Leeb would get a contra…lol, they’re super expensive. and the reeds are like $30 a piece! crazy! :P other than that, I went to the arcade with my new friends, and I did a DDR thingy. I was pretty good by the time we left. I dunno, it was fun though.
Friday – easy day again. running through music and ensembles and crud so we did nothing. there was a dance, but the session was during the same time as the little junior-high kid’s one, so none of my floor went. we had a huge reed party instead. we’re such NERDS! I didn’t make any reeds though, I had cut my finger on the knife earlier that week, so I just watched the oboists fumble over their little pieces of cane while I snacked and talked with them. they all had at least two crack when they were almost done with it, too. I laughed at them. lol. um…
Saturday – last day. no rehearsals for me, I just sat around from 7 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon doing nothing. AGH! it was so boring. my concert wasn’t even until 4 in the afternoon. SO LATE! and it takes me three hours to get home. blah. concert ended at 5:30 and I slept almost all the way home. came back, brothers had trashed the house (way to go, guys) and I went to bed at like 10:30 trying to unpack essentials.
so that was my eventful weeks, wouldn’t you agree it was a little crazy? yah. well I’m going to go now, this post is long enough. other things I have to do. leave a comment if you’re interested in my notes, I’ll be sure to tell you what kinds of notes I took (subjects, I mean) so… I will absitively-posolutely talk to you all later! byebye!
